From your first contact with us right through to the completion of your project, we are confident that you will benefit from our strong technical expertise, excellent workmanship, complete reliability and sound business ethics. When you choose to work with us, you will have immediate access to over 45 years' experience of the special disciplines and working practices involved in complex projects – which adds up -to a well-managed project and substantial cost savings.
Our Company's history was mainly working for manufacturing and heavy industry. The discipline employed by these clients has stood us well as trends in construction have changed and evolved. This has furthered our progression into other sectors of the market such as Education, Hospitality and works for The Ministry of Justice.
Unlike a good proportion of our industry we have refrained from being a specialist contractor. Our directly employed staff and employees are fully trained and experienced in many traditional methods, together with vast knowledge and understanding of the new more innovative methods entering the industry. From the initial enquiry stage to the completion of a project, we will assign a dedicated project manager to you who will have the specialist knowledge and experience required to execute the works. This person will be your single point of contact throughout your project, supplemented of course, by our committed office team.
Our project values range from £1,000 to £3million.
To comply with the ever changing legislative requirements of our industry, we have developed a top down approach to the management of health and safety, whereby the Company Health and Safety Director ensures that each individual Contract Manager responsible for a project is equipped to manage projects safely.
Not withstanding the size of the project, whether it is covered by The Construction (Design and Management Regulations) 2015, or work of a more simple nature for a short duration, part of the Contract Manager's role will be to write a Health and Safety Plan.
This will take the form of a Method Statement/Hazard Identification leading to the formulation of a Safe System of Work. Unlike many other organisations, we do not 'grade' risk into "low" or "high" categories, but attempt to reduce or eliminate all hazards whatever the degree of risk.
We train all Contract Managers to Nebosh Construction Certificate standard together with some Site Foreman having undertaken the 5 day CITB Site Managers course.
All site personnel are holders of the ECITB Passport to Safety, and the company is now over 90 % compliant with the industry target of a fully qualified workforce through the CSCS card scheme.
Each year we employ one or two apprentices, usually joiners or bricklayers, who we aim to develop into the Foreman of tomorrow. Continued academic progression of apprentices is encouraged to HND and degree level.
Those site staff who have not gained a NVQ level 2 through a recognised apprentice scheme, are working towards this award through a process of on site assessment.
We have a fully developed training plan for the Company, with most site staff trained to CPCS standard for dumpers and roller operation, and Slinger/Signaller. We continue to update training as required in Confined Spaces, Excavation Assessment, Asbestos Awareness and the Use and Erection of Mobile Scaffold Towers.
All sites and projects that are over two weeks in duration are inspected twice monthly by our consultants, The Building Safety Group Limited. This ensures that all sites are inspected by an objective third party, and instances of non-compliance to set standards provide useful data for benchmarking our yearly performance.
We have been assessed for three years running as a CHAS compliant contractor, and we continue to be responsive to industry, regulation and client led standards in health and safety management.
